Welcome Back!
Thank you to all who responded to the CVAlert! campaign, and congratulations to those of you who earned 100 Grand in ten seconds. Although that ship has sailed and there are no more giveaways, it would still be a good (ok, great) idea to sign up for the Wireless Emergency Notification System, anyway. Please follow the link to CVAlert! Information and Sign Up if you still haven't registered.
Thanks, Kolean Special thanks to Kolean Pitner, Adjunct Instructor, Liberal Arts, who is donating another jigsaw puzzle and games to the student lounge. Consequently, we will be taking the not-so-recently completed puzzle and returning those hungry looking wolves to the safe confines of their cardboard box. Most of the games you see in the lounge were donated by Kolean, so send her a shout out when you can.
Speaking of the lounge, after a significant flooding issue, we have reopened and reconfigured it to become more user-friendly. We will continue to improve the student lounge and I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
Death, Taxes, and Identity Theft Benjamin Franklin once said that, "in this world nothing is certain but death and taxes." Mr. Franklin probably didn't have to worry about identity theft during his time, but unfortunately, we do in ours.
Please, make sure that you keep close watch over your personal items. Recently a completed tax form was found. In addition, passport information was left on a computer. We'd want to believe that CVA community members wouldn't take advantage of a fellow student; however, the best way to keep everyone honest, is to keep your private information exactly that - Private. Identity fraud it takes time, effort, and money, to get your good name and credit restored.
Check, and double check the computers and printers to make sure you are not leaving your personal information accessible. Also be sure to collect all your documents before leaving the building. Thanks!
Student IDs Non-students have been found in the CVA Computer Labs during the weekends. As a result, campus security will be asking to see your student IDs on occasion. You are required to have your ID with you at all times when on campus and during CVA sponsored off-campus events. Please don't take offense if a staff member or security guard asks you for your ID. They're trying to keep the campus safe for everyone, and I want to thank you in advance for your support in this matter. If you see someone unfamiliar, you can contact a staff member, or campus security. Feel free to talk to me anytime about this issue.
Sunken Garden Students have asked, and come up with some ideas for making the sunken garden a more pleasant space. Shawn Leko is aware of your concerns, and we have considered some plans for making it a habitable spot for study and recreation once again. I'll keep you posted.
